You can use the Add and Append commands to move work instructions from one work queue (the source) to a second queue (the target). Although very similar, these commands function differently:
The Add command retains the sequence of the work instructions that have been moved. Click here (on page 1) for an example.
For example, when you have 20’ containers in two bays on the same hatch, you may want to discharge them in pairs (also called paired 20’s). In this case, you would plan the discharge of the two bays so that the sequence is the same, and then you would use the add command to add the work instructions of one bay's work queue to the other bay's work queue. This way, the work instructions maintain their original sequence numbers, building pairs with the existing work instructions in this queue.
The Append command places the work instructions at the end of the list of work instructions in the target work queue. Click here (on page 1) for an example.
For example, when you have 20’ containers in two bays on the same hatch, you may want to discharge both bays in a unified sequence. In this case, you would plan the discharge of the two bays so that the sequence is the same, and then you would use the append command to add the work instruction of one bay's work queue to the other bay's work queue. This way, the appended work instructions receive new sequence numbers, according to the sequence of the target work queue.
To add or append work instructions to a queue:
Open the source work queue and the target work queue.
The target work queue can also be a new work queue. To create a new work queue, use the Maintain Queues window (Planning Maintain Queues).
Select the desired instructions from the first queue.
In the target queue window, click Add or Append.
The selected instructions become part of the target work queue.
You can delete empty work queues in the Maintain Queues window.
